Acidum ethylenediaminetetraaceticum late abbreviatum ut EDTA, est acidum aminopolycarboxylicum sine colore, solidum aquaticum solubile. Basis conjugata, ethylenediaminetetraacetate nominatur. Solet enim limescale dissolvere. Usus eius oritur ob partes suas ut hexadentate ("sex-dentato") agentis ligandi et chelante, id est eius facultatem metallorum "sequester" sicut Ca2+ et Fe3+. Post EDTA constricti, metalla in solutione manent, sed reactivitatem diminutam exhibent. Producitur EDTA ut plures sales, notabiliter disodium EDTA et calcium disodium EDTA.
